MATTERS APPROACHING NORMAL.
Wellington Union Reaches 1570. The position in Wellington is becoming easier every day and matters should soon reach their normal stage. The strikers are gradually becoming tired ,of looking on and watching others reap ft nob harvest whilst they have to be content with the strike pay now reduced from 15s 6d to 14s 6d per week, &• large amount of overtime has been worked of late, many of the men making from 24s to 26s per day. The membership of the new Wharf Labourers’ Union reached 1570 on Saturday and men were still signing on. Saturday was the busiest day seen at the wharf for many months past; no less than 27 boats being alongsidb the wharves.
