The final result is : Conservatives .. .. 339 Liberal-Unionists .. ~ 72 Liberals .. .. ITG Parnellites 12 Nationalists . .. 70 The Conservatives have decided to oppose the re-election of Mr Gully as Speaker. The Times warns them that if they do they will run the risk of reducing their majority under 100. Many newspapers urge Mr Balfour to be magnanimous and re-elect the Speaker. Mr J, Lowther threatens to form a “ cave ” against Mr Balfour.
