PATEA HARBOUR BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above hoard was held on Tuesday last, when there were present—Messrs H. E Deane, (chairman), Balmforth, Brown, Fisher, Major and C. Symes. Minutes of former meeting read and confirmed. Correspondence read and dealt with; from Mr Boyle relative to road and non* removal of buildings, etc., from section 131 by the late tenant. On the motion of Mr Brown, seconded by Mr Major, it was resolved “ That the Chairman and Mr Symes inspect the road referred to in Mr Boyle’s letter, and report to the Patea East Road Board.” The other matters referred to were considered as not within the province of the ■board. In the matter of the Railway Goods Shed, it was resolved to lay the matter, and the Government’s promise to make appropriation for same, before Mr Hutchison. The improvement committee was authorised 1o have the steps down to the beacons made safe, and also to attend to the removal of winch. Mr Oldham wrote asking for remission of storage on potatoes ex Waitapu inwards, and it was resolved “ That the Board would like to meet Mr Oldham in the matter but cannot establish a precedent of rebate in matters of like nature.” The application of Mr G. H. Dickson for compensation for road to gravel pit was left with the chairman to arrange. Mrs Jollie’s application of the 10th June, held over from last meeting, re fencing and survey was discussed, and it was resolved on the motion of Mr Symes, “That Mrs Jollie be paid half cost of survey of part section 131 if the section was not properly defined before, and on condition that proper iron pegs be put in.” The other matters referred to in the letter were not recognised. It was ordered that in all cases of fresh surveys of boundaries of sections proper iron pegs should be put in. The Wharfinger reported everything in good working order. The floor of the shed had been packed, new hose received, and posts and rails put in position, and that new piping would be completed at once. The Pilot reported the channel very good at present, being well defined and straight with lift at springs and Bft at neaps. The entrance and along breakwater very good, KOft wide with 16ft of water shoaling to 14ft at Board's wharf at neap tides. The rubble wall is in same condition, no stones having shifted. He recommended that the winch should be put under cover unless going to bo used. The road to the beacons was unsafe. Reports received. The Chairman reported that four acres of the reserve near the Heads had been planted and the fencing completed. Action approved. Monthly statement of account shewed Cr bank balance, £4II 4s 2d; available for expenditure, £IOO7 18s 4dAccounts amounting to £lB5 Bs, including sinking fund £125, were passed fdr payment.
