Shanghai, April 29. _ Owing to continued disturbances in Formosa a force of sailors from a German warship has been landed at Tamsui, a treaty port in the north-west of the island, to protect tho foreign residents. The trouble in Formosa is owing to the fact that the Chinese soldiers have not been paid for some time past. The discontent culminated in open revolt, at the outset of which the soldiers killed their general, whom they accused of stealing their pay. The Governor’s guard, in restoring order, killed 30 of the rioters.
