THE EASTER ENCAMPMENT.

(per press association.) WELLINGTON, This day. At St Peter’s Church last evening the Rev Mr Coffey referred to the projected Easter Encampment. He agreed that it was the church that preserved those days from trade, and therefore Christians ought-not to devote them for secular purposes. He stated that the clergy had communicated with the Volunteers, protesting against the Encampment being held at that time, but with no effect, and it only remained for him to ask his congregation not to support the Volunteers in their resolution.
