The half-yearly report of ; the Government Insurance Commissioner, Mr D. M: Luckie ( has ■ reached us. It, shows that during the half-year ending December 31, 1882, 2547 proposals were accepted,. on -.which were issued policies, assuring the sum of £631,279 f
and producing a new premium income of £20,404 6s Bd. : Death claims on 44 policies, representing 42 persons, have arisen, and the amount payable on, these was ~£19,857 368* The of funds at the end of the year was £704,888 14s lid. Of the assets a sum of £575,400 was invested. in Government securities, and £40,000 in railway debentures, guaranteed by Government. ■
