VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The usual weekly parade of the Patea Rifle Volunteers will be held to-morrow evening; and an inspection parade the
following Tuesday, July 17th, as per advertisement.
This month (July) is the time for'enrolling now members in the Volunteers. Any person desirous of becoming a member of the Patea Rifle Corps will please hand in his name at once to the captain, stating his age, height, and occupation. It may be mentioned that there are three trophies (Cups) to be fired for. One each for the first, second, and third class. No member will be handicapped out of this sport, so that a good opportunity is afforded for the recruit to partake in this pleasure. Captain’s Cup. The third-class squad fired this morning, the ranges being 300 and 400 yards, seven shots at each. The morning was favourable and the shooting good. Scores 300 yds. 400 yds. Tl.
