Wind—between northeast and north-west at all places north of Kaikoura and Westport, and between north-east and south-east at all other places. Barometer—rise at all places north of Napier and New Plymouth, further fall at all other places. Sea heavy on both coasts south of Napier and New Plymouth. Warnings for noriherly gales have been sent to all places from Napier and New Plymouth southward to Kaikoura and Westport, and for easterly gales to all places from thence southward..
FIRE AT GISBORNE- ■ ■■Win ■! e* * GISBORNE, This clay. An oight-roomed house, owned and occupied by Mr Gormer, Bailiff of the U.M, Court, was totally destroyed by tiro this morning. Mr Price, late Resident Magistrate, who has been seriously ill for some time, has occupied apartments in the House, and had to be carried out and left shivering in the cold.
