MR FREEMAN B. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. Tho sales during the past fortnight have been fairly well attended, and bidding on the whole dull, showing a slight demand tendency for store cattle. Fat cattle are also at lower values, owing to the depression in the Auckland and West Coast markets, neither of which touch 25s the lOOlhs. Sheep are inquired for, and would meet a ready sale at somewhat lower prices than those asked by sellers. The high rate ruling at Napier for sheep of all classes is prohibitory to business, so without prices recede there we cannot look to that district for stores. I have a number of good local stores on my books for next month’s sales. Cattle. — At Waverley, on tho 17th, 304 head were sold—Bullocks in forward condition,L4s 10s ; cows, and calvesLS 15s to L 4 5s ; cows, LB2s ; heifers„L3 ; yearlings, L2 18s ; weaners, LI 7s 6d. At Kakarainea on Friday, 354 head were yarded.—Bullocks, L 5 7s 6d ; 2-year olds, L 4 I s ; cows, L 3 ; yearlings, L2 15s. At St Hill stroet 249 head were penned— Fat cows, L 6 5s ; bullocks, L 6 10s to L7ss ; 3-year-old steers, L 5 ss. Sheep. —At Kakaramea a few came in Shorn ewes of inferior quality, 6s 6d. At the y?rds on Wednesday 950 were offered—Fat wethers, 12a ; stores, 9s. 500 were turned out unsold, 10s lid being offered for them. Horses —About the usual number came to the hammer —Best hacks, up to Ll6 ; ordinary, L 6 to LlO ; inferior, L 3 to L 5. Exports— 126 cattle and 300 sheep. I shall offer all Mr Stent’s pure-bred imported cattle on Wednesday, 13th December. LONDON WOOL SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date London, 2Stbi November —The Wool market is unchanged ; seedy and burry wools are neglected. Up to date 44,000 bales have been sold and 500 withdrawn.
