The Lyttelton Times says that, during a recent sitting of the Amberly Police Court, the constable several times called out “ silence,” and on enquiry it appeared that the only noise was the chattering of the unfortunate witness’s teeth with the cold. It is stated that a distressed parent favored the police with the following dcscripton of a daughter who was supposed to have eloped—“ Tall, fair, and three or four years younger than she looks.”
