A comparative return of the traffic and receipts for September of this and the past two years gives the following results : —Merchandise, l'4',t>94 tons in 1874, against 26,383 tons iii 1875 ; pesseugers, 29,983' iiv 1874, against 43,052 in'lß7s’;’ receipts,' £7,577 in 1874, against £15,159 in 1875. The Canterbury railways are now earnlug over £150.001.) a-year.
