She may be expected to put in an appearance in the offing next week, and as the springs arc beginning to make, there is but little doubt that she will he able to take the bar immediately on arrival. FREEMAN R. JACKSON'S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. (FROM THE WANGANUI CHRONICLE) Since my last report a great number of sheep and cattle have changed hands. Cows, without calves, £5 2s (Id to MU 10s ; cows with calves, £(i; yearlings, up to eighteen months, mixed sexes, £0 12s fid to £3 15s. 220 were sold at those rates. An offer of £lO was made for ID bullocks, but refused. At Nukumaru, on Tuesday, 13th, the attendance was large, but the dry weather made purchasers shy to operate. The cattle on the whole were low in condition, I think the prices obtained were fair, Bullocks, thrcc-ycar-olds, £fi 17s; two-year-olds, £1 Kis; cows, without calves, £1 10s ; yearlings, £2 ICs. About 70 yearlings were withdrawn at these prices, also a pen of heifers ; about 200 were quitted at these rates. At my usual fortnightly sale at the St, Hill Street Sale Yards, held on Thursday, the yards were well filled with beef, and all sold to the trade at quotation. The prices for cattle were—Bullocks, £7 to £lO ; cows, £(i to £7 2s fid, or 22s fid the lOOlbs. Stove cattle, heifers, and steers, £3 7s Gd ; cows and calves. £1 15s to £fi 17s fid. Sheep.— l sold at Mrs. Chapman’s, 3fio weathers and ewes at. 11s fid ; 154 at 10s fid ; and 170 ewes at 5s 3d. At the St. Hill Street yards, fat sheep made from Ds to 11s Dd ; old ewes, 3s Dd ; one pen of store weathers, 4s 3d. Horses.—No sale.
