Votes at Birthplace. For sentimental reasons, Mr K JHolyoake. Mf.. travelled to Manganiutu with Mrs Holyoake on i ~„ UI> day, there to record l*is vote. Mangamutu i*s the new Member s birthplace and, although it is many yearo since be left the district, the meal residents appreciated the gesture Eketahuna’s Duckpond. Good progress is being made with the filling up of the “duckpond near the swimming baths, much oi the filling being made up of debris from demolished earthquake damaged buildings Upon completion ot the work, the reclaimed area is to be laid out in laavn s and shrubs and will present a striking contrast to the locality iu its present form. Thanks Expressed. The St. Peter’s Flower Show committee expressed their gratitude to the ladies of the Guild who provided afternoon tea at yesterday s show. The proceeds went to the show funds and the ladies also served lunch to the judges and stewards. The Girls’ Club, also assisted with a play at the evening’s entertainment and they conducted a stall.
