PATRIOTIC AFFAIRS
SOCIETY EXECUTIVE MEETS. The executive of the Pah iatu a Patriotic Society met last night in the County Council Chambers, when there were present Messrs S. J. Judd (in the chair, A. W. Bis set, W. A. Carthew, E. Mexted, A. G. Hogg, W, I>. Harris, J. W. Greaves and J. Hutton, secretary. The chairman’s action in requesting the local Maori Tribal Committee to appoint a delegate to the Society was endorsed. Advice was received regarding the district’s quota of unaddressed parcels, and on the motion of Mr Carthew it was resolved to forward a letter thanking file Masterton Committee for their assistance in attending to the posting of the Pahiatua parcels. Correspondence was dealt with and Mr Hogg ventured the opinion that the Recruits’ Presentation Fund should be built up immediately as the commitments were likely to be heavy and it would be a wise | >u li c y to take early steps to augment the funds. Members agreed and a recommendation was carried urging the incoming executive to concentrate on strengthening the fund.
it was decided to send letters of thanks to the County Council for the
use of tlie Chambers and to the ladies who serve the afternoon tea at farewell functions. A vote of thanks was accorded the Press.
