Turkish observers see no signs of ai. immediate German collapse, says the Times Istanbul correspondent. I he Turks, who hav© closely studied German reaction to the Russian oflensive, have drawn these conclusions : 'l’he German General Staff is preparing plans to enable the Reich tq fight a. long defensive war and their aim will b© to delay as long as possible a direct threat to German territory itself. The Germans have made up their minds to sacrifice all occupied countries surrounding Germany and these are to .act as buffers against attack.
