One of the Japanese aims for ]94J is to attack Australia and force an armistice. This was stated by a Japanese army spokesman. Colonel Yanagi in a newspaper article quoted by the Berlin radio. Yaliagi outlined Japan's other aims to overthrow the Chungking Government, to attack India, if it continued to be used as an AngloAmerican base and the ren oval of t'T threat to Japan’s position gn tlO Jr-\ cific troln United States bases at Midway Island a,nd Hawaii. He added that possibly it will b<> necessary to land on the North American continent since Alaska is being turned into a base against Japan.
