(From the Pafiiatua. Scar 27/12/92.) The heaps of stones along the main road are growing, and visitors make diligent enquiry as to the ultimate use of the boulders in the future. Some suggest that Paliiatua, like China, is to have a wall erected around it; others that the Borough Councillors are in league with the medical fraternity and will receive a commission on all accidents. Be that as it may, the whole thing is a farce and no intelligent body of men would agree to such a public danger being created. Why need these boulders be broken in the Main Street instead of cn the river bed which is a Borough reserve. It involves double carting and whenever gangs are breaking stone the splinters threaten the windows of the stores and the eyesight of the customers. Mr Spain's trap made another bolt this afternoon. One of the vheels was locked, but notwithstanding this, the horse was getting up good steam for homo when Mr Darley stopped it at considerable risk to himself just outside the “Star’ Office.
