VIOLENT FIGHTING REPORTED
AROUND MEDJEZ ED BAB. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Dec. 28. An Allied North Africa communique states: Vigorous patrolling is being carried out in the forward areas. One patrol attacked an enemy detachment on the Medjez El JLsabTerburba Road, inflicting casualties and capturing several prisoners Enemy motor vehicles located on a farm in the same general area were shelled and forced to retire. A-nothr patrol drove oh enemy units without loss. Our fighter aircraft made sweeps over the for ward areas yesterday. On Saturday night we bombed objectives behind the enemy lines. Our heavy bombers yesterday attacked the harbour at Sousse. Ships, docks aud warehouses were hit with satisfactory results None of our aircraft is missing. The crew of one of our bombers reported missing after tbe raid >n Bizerta on Saturday s safe, the plane having landed hi friendly territory after shooting down an enemy fighter. According to a London cable, the Vichy radio says that violent fighting has been going on in Tunisia in the last 24 hours, being parcu larly heavy around Medjez El Bab. Both sides report fighting in the area west of Kail wan.
