PAHIATUA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

SOCIAL AFTERNOON. A pleasant afternoon was spent at the monthly meeting of the Pahiatua Women’s Institute held at the Wesley Hall on December 15. The President. Mrs T. J. Cotter, welcomed the large gathering of members and friends. The meeting opened with the “Oder” and the Prayer for Peace. Apologies for absence wore received from Mesdames Robertson, Whiting and S. Hogg. Mrs Tattle read a very interesting chapter from “Pioneer Tales’* and a delicious afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames J. D. Wilson. Grantham, and A G. Hogg. Very enjoyable items were then given by Miss McTvor (vocal solos'), Mrs Wylie (recitations), and the Glees (2 songs). The Wall competition was won by Mrs Macrae. Other competition winners were:—Best bloom, Mrs Carrad (2 entries) Ist equal, Mrs T. J. Cotter (2 entries) 2nd equal: 'Soft toy for Orphanage. Mrs Carrad Ist. Mrs Macrae 2nd. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded those who gave items and the hostesses. The meeting terminated with the President extending the Season’s Greetings to all.
