General Cliennault’s Chief of Staff in China, told the Press that American planes in China had shot down 12 Japanese for every American lost. The high ratio was due primarily to General Chennault’s leadership. He was an outstanding genius of aerial warfare, and had thought out and executed 83 major air battles and not lost, one. He planned 48 bombing raids, which were carried out with only one bomber lost. Colonel Cooper thought it would be possible to gain air superiority in China with airborne supplies alone.
