MALTA HITS BACK
CONVOY SHIPS SUFFER TUNIS BATTERED AGAIN. SHIPS IN BASIN BLASTED. (Received 1J.50 a.m.) (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Dec. 23. Malta struck bat k with a vengeance on Monday night when Wellingtons smashed again at muchba ttered Tunis, and her torpedobombers sank two out of four ships ,in a. convoy off Sicily. The convoy consisted of one supply ship, which must carried precious cargo, a« it had. three escort vessels as well as U-boats and night fighters. Albacores attacked in moonlight sinking the supply ship arid <mu> of the escort vessels. At Tuuis, Wellingtons scored several hits on two ships in the main basin, two crimson explosions merging into on,o great burst after which the ships disintegrated. A 4000-pouiider was dropped on the marshaling yards causing a violent explosion in. a building.
