OBITUARY
MR BENJAMIN BLDUEN Touching tributes to the latj Benjamin B'udden, of Pukuru, were paid on Wednesday afternoon last, when the mortal remains of o-ne respected ad esteemed by a host of friends and acquaintances were solemnly laid to rest in the To Awamutu cemetery. reports the Otorohanga Times of January 22nd. The Rev. Murffia Sullivan conducted the short but impressive funeral service of tin Anglican Oliurch iu St. John’s, after which the cortege wended its way to. the remoteiy. The casket was borne by a number of intimate personal friends namely Messrs S. H. West. W. J. Melville.- A. O. Law. and F. Harris, all of Pokuru, and Messrs T. Bowden and S. S. Preston, representing the To Awamutu Bowling Club, of which the late Mr Budden had been an active and enthusiastic member right up to the time of his sudden death. The cortege u as one of tile longest and most representative seen in To Awamutu for some considerable time. The. late Mr Budder. was an old resident in the Otorohanga district, lie came with Ids father, who was a pioneer in breaking in the bush lands at Honikiwi. in 1902 and remained there for over 10 years prior to takig up the land at Pokuru. H|is sister Mrs Rattray , of Honikiwi. is the only member of the family still residing in the district. Benjamin Harold, son of thu Into Benjamin Buddeii. born at Masterton ' 1882. lived in Pahiatua * from 1892 do 1905,. He attended the Pali; iatua school an<T was a member or th c . Volunteer Mounted Rifles formed in about 1900.
