5000 BRIIISH CHILDREN FOR AUSTRALIA
GUARANTEES DEMANDED FROM HOSTS. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph- -Copyright. CANBERRA, June 27. Plans for the absorption by the Commonwealth of 5000 British children were completed at a conference of Federal and State Ministers tonight. The Commonwealth undertake® to obtain a guarantee from all persons receiving children that they will care for them, provide living standards, medical attention and education on a basis equal to normal standards of Australian life, also take into consideration the religious beliefs of the homes whereto they are being sent or committed. Each group of children coming to Australia will be provided with a guardian.
