AMERICAN FARMERS AND GERMANY. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright TORONTO. February 13. The Associated Press Washington correspondent reports 'that an extensive barter dea«l between Germany and Mid-Western co-operative farm and packing organisations is being negotiated under which lard, wheat, and other primary products will bo directly exchanged, lor German manufactures. Germany is prepared to take several hundred toils of lard and 150,000 tons of wheat. Similar arrangements have already been entered in in with California citrus and Virginia apple growers in exchange for German fertiliser. The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, indicated that he did not object to pure barter as long as it was not accompanied by artificial currency devices and did not interfere with bis reciprocal trade agreement programme.
