FIRE DANGER OVER
WELCOME CHANGE OF WIND. United Press Assn.—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, February 14. A cool change which is expected to last two days brought an end to the bush fire danger for the present. Although forty houses were endangered in various places yesterday only four were destroyed, the change in the wind sweeping the fires back into the burnt-out country. The firefighters are still standing by in case of emergencies. An open finding was recorded by the coroner to-day at the inquests on the eight victims of the Toolangi fire last month. The coroner said he was unable to say with certainty how the fire began. but lie was inclined to agree with the forest officers that the fire was deliberately lighted. The total fir.? relief fund is now reaching the £200,000 mark but the claims lodged total £1,000,000.
