LONELY BARREN ISLET
UNUSUAL YACHTING IROFHY. Electric Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, February 12. A novel yachting trophy in vhe form of a lonely barren islet has been given t*o the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron by the mayor, Sir Ernest Davis. Mr 11. J. C. George, commodore of the squadron, in announcing the gift at th©regatta dance ir> Kawau on Saturday night, said that Sir Ernesthad suggested that the winner of the annual night cruising race, in addition to the prize, should hold the lease of the islet for one year. Known as Happy Jack, the islet is about a mile off Mansion House Bay and is almost covered at high tide. It is well known by yachtsmen, who usually keep a sharp look-out for it when sailing at night.
