After the match on Saturday, the Horowhenua team and officials, together with the* Bush team, were* entertained at a dinner by the Bush Rugby Inion at the Club Hotel. It was evident from the manner ill which the* teams diel justice to the meal that the proprietors of the* Club Hotel (Mr and Mrs Irvine) had given considerable thought to the* preparation of the menu, and both tin* Bush Rugby Union officials and Mr and Mrs Irvine must have felt pleased with the expressions ot appreciation made. Two hakas put on by the* combined Maoris of the teams were* much enjoyed, as was a song by Messrs I). Luke and R. Hunt.
During tin* eve*ning the following toasts wore honoured: ‘‘The* King’’; “The Horowhenua Rugby Union, proposed by the* president of the Bush Rugby Union (Mr R. J. Smith, who congratulated the* visitors on the'ir fine* sporting spirit evidenced in the* game* that day, Mr Hannon replying; “The* Bush Rugby Union,” pro|>osed by Mr Bateman (manager of the* Horowhe'ima team) and Mr (>. L. Chntwin replied. “Maori Football in New Zealand.*’ proposed by Mr G. L. Ohatwin, replied to by Mr Meta Johnson; “The Horowhenua Team.” proposeel by the* Bush captain (Mr J. Mc-Sherry-. Mr Devonshire replying: “The Staff of the* Club Hotel,” proposed by Mr Chatwin. responded to bv Mr P. Wa\ ; “The Host and Hostess. Mr and Mrs Irvine',” proposed to by Mr R. J.
