Captain Johnson, master of the Therese Aloller, on which the New Zealander, Mr P. Cairnes, is first officer, complains bitterly that after being stranded at Hoia Bay, northeast of Saghailen, since October 13, Soviet troops compelled them to remain throughout the winter aboard their ieei-covered ship, where they were treat?d like criminals and suffered intense privations. The temperature was often 40 degrees below’ zero. The Chinese crew also suffered acutely.
