RAIN IN WAIRARAPA
RIVERS RISE RAPIDLY Electric Telegraph—Press Association MASTER-TON, June 23. Steady- rain all day yesterday and a heavy downpour throughout the night until 9 a.in. caused rivers and creeks to the north and east of Masterton to rise rapidly. In the Bideford and Wangaehu districts creeks and streams are running level wit»i the banks. The Wangaehu River, fed bv numerous creeks from the Wangaehu Valley bills, was this morning rising rapidly, hut the possibility of a flood vanished with bright sunshine hi the afternoon.
Althoughr accompanied by a southerly wind, the weather was not as cold as might have been expected.
