TO MAKE INVESTIGATION INFANT NUTRITION PROBLEM. DUNEDIN, This Day. In interview y ‘sterday the .Minister of Health,, Hou Peter Fraser, intimated that he had had a resolution from the New Zealand: Council of the British Medical Association, asking for an investigation into infant nutrition under the direction < f the Medical Research Council The letter stated that before the resolution was communicated to the Minister a statement on it which did not come from the Association, had appeared in the -Press. This gave the impression, that the resolution was based on adveise criticism of the Society’s work. This was not so and nothing in the resolution was intended or could be inferred ns an attack on the Society REQUEST FA YOU R ED. The Minister said he was favourable towards the request lor investigation and that it should be called, under the direction ol the Medical Research Council. The Council had appointed a committee of which Professor Malcolm was convener to investigate the nutrition, problem in New Zealand; and the subject of iniant nutrition obviously was part and parcel of the general problem. ‘“The. wonderfully beneficial work cf the Blanket Society,’' the Minister continued, ,£ has received worldwide recognition and it would be regrettable if anything should be done or said that would detract from ils value or ifnjustificably lessen confidence in its work or the excellent methods of the Society. At the. same time I have been informed by the President of the Society fMrs J. Begg) that the officers of the executive council would welcome oily investigation by a committee, the personnel 01 which would be thoioughly competent and imbued with true scientific spirit.”
