NONAGENARIAN PASSES

DEATH OF MRS. M. COULTER. The death occurred at an early hour on Saturday morning of Mrs M. Coulter, who had reached the ripe old age of 96 years and was within two months of her ninety-seventh birthday. Always possessed of a cheerful disposition, deceased had been an advocate of a quiet, simple life, with plenty of hard work, for those who desired to live long. For 57 years she had been a resident of Palmerston North and when her husband possed -away about 31 years ago she continued to live alone till about two years ago, when she went to reside with her family. Born in County Antrim, Ireland, Mrs Coulter left the land of her birth when 19 years of age, accompanying her brother on the sailing ship Royal Standard. While her brother came on to New Zealand, deceased remained in Melbourne for a time, but a year later crossed the Tasman. For brief periods she lived' at Ashburton and Christchurch. She is survived by four children—Mr D. Coulter (Palmerston North), Mr W. R. Coulter (Woodville), Mrs H. Henderson (Palmerston North) and Mrs W. Fabling (Palmerston North).
