MINIATURE RIFLES.
MAXGAMUTU C LUB SHOOT The following scores were recorded at the weekly shoot of the Mangamutu Miniature Rifle Club last night:
PRESIDENT ENTERTAINS. Members of the Mangamutu Miniature Rifle Club were entertained last, night by tin- president, Mr L. J. Heayns, whose wife set before them a bountiful “spread” in honour of, her husband’s birthday. After the many good things provided by Mrs Heayns had been partaken of Mr E. Broughtou called on Mrs Heayns to accept a box of linen handkerchiefs from the club in slight recognition, of her kindness. The speaker said that the occasion had come to be an annual one and was always appreciated by the club. This year it had coincided with the realisation of the club's greatest ambitions—the winning of the Byrne Shield—he was sure* it must have been a. very happy* birthday for Mr Heayns. Mr Heayns thanked members for honouring his health and assured them that he was very gratified that the club should have achieved success at last. On Monday evening the Makoniako Miniature Rifle Club entertained a team of ten riflemen from Aokautero at ail annual shooting match, the visitors proving victoiious by 11 points.
