HUKANUI NEWS. THE DRAMA CIRCLE. The membership of the drama circle is stronger than ever. Those non attending are Misses A. Colder, --v. Lawrence, A. R. Lawrence, J- Colder, Q. Harrington, X. Sparkes, B. Harrington, V. Webb, X. Harrington, E. Sparkes. The play tor the Women’s Institute birthday promises to be very amusing, those takings part being Misses J. Golder, Ada Lawrence, V. Webb and * ■ bparkes. PERSONAL. Friends of Mr E. Harrington will be pleased to hear that he has returned home from the Pahiatua private hospital and is progressing favourably. Mrs W. Eellv, of Petone, recently spent a holiday in Hukanui as the guest of Mrs D. Udy and also Mrs R. Udy. . Miss A. Twentyman is holidaying at Takapau. Mr W. Freeth has returned from a trip to the South Island. Mrs W. O. Twentyman is on a motor tour to Auckland. Friends' of Mrs J. Gardiner will regret to hear that she is an inmate of the Pahiatua hospital. Miss W. Twentyman spent last week-end in Hukanui. ROXGOMAI. THE HALL COMMITTEE. The annual meeting of the hall committee took place fast week, there being a small attendance. A very satisfactory balance-sheet was presented by the retiring secretary, Mr C. Richardson. The new committee elected comprised Mr HSehnell (chairman), Mr L. Eagle (secretary), and Mr L. button, Mr A Judd, Mrs J. Davie, and Misses r! Sehnell and C. Evans. The new committee held their first meeting on Monday last and the social events for the winter months were discussed. Card evenings >viU be held once a fortnight as usual, it was arranged to form a working bee to get the hedges trimmed.
W.D.F.U. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the W.D.F.U. was held on Wednesday, there being present Mesdames Lowes Davie, Castle, Cooper, W ilton, G. Judd, J. Judd, Reid, C. Evans, J. Evans E. Evans, J. Fulton, Misses B. Thompson, L. Cooper and C. Evans. The balance-sheet disclosed a substantial credit. The officers elected were: President, Mrs Lowes; secretary, Miss Thompson; advisory members, Mrs Wilton and Miss Thompson; vice-presidents, Mrs C. Evans and Mrs L. Eagle. Arrangements were made for entertainment at next month’s meeting, the date being altered on account of the usual day falling on Coronation day. Afternoon tea was served, and a competition was won by Mrs L. Eagle.
