At last- night’s school committee meeting the chairman reported that the Dental Nurse (Miss, de Beer) h id visited the Ballance and Hukanui schools and would shortly attend the Makomako school in order to ascertain their needs.

It has been proved that butterfat backing is necessary when buying a sire to head the herd Some outstanding sires have been brought to this district from time to time and have left daughters which have splendid butter-fat records. These breeders are now in a position to offer bulls for sale and the catalogues of the Jersey bull sale, to be held at the Showgrounds, Dannevirke, on Tuesday, 6th October, will convey at once to those interested that the entries have all that could be desired in this direction. After a good season the vendors have the bulls coming forward in good condition and the inspection in the paddock has eliminated those not quite up to the mark. The auctioneers, Messrs Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Co-op., Wright, Stephenson and Co. and Abraham and Williams, will be willing to send catalogues on application or same may bo had from Messrs Quigley and Allen. The sale commences at 11 a.m. sharp.
