WEDDING BELLS.

A HUKANUI CEREMONY. UD V—G AHDIXEE. A wedding of widespread interest was solemnised at. the hall, Hukanui, on ..Wednesday evening, when Jean Ann Margaret, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Gardiner, was married to Leo Hart, third son of Mr and Mrs W. TJdy. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Mr Ives, of Eketahuna, and Mrs W. O. Twenty man played the bridal music. The bride entered the church escorted by her father, making a sweet picture in her beautiful gown of silver metal lace which was slightly trained and belted, with a wide silver sash. The draped sleeves fell off the shoulder and were made fitting at the wrist. Her veil of tulle was held in position by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a fragrant bouquet of cream roses with a few pink rosebuds. The two maids who followed her up the aisle made a charming pair in their frocks of pink needier un lace. They had insets of net in the skirts, which were banded with rcws of. taffeta, thus making the fullness noticeable. They wore silver head-dresses and carried dainty pink bouquets. Miss Ena Gardiner, sister of the bride, acted as chief ai d was given by the bridegroom a dainty crystal necklace The other maid was Miss Irene Ball (Wellington) and the groom’s gift to her was a dainty ring. Mr C. Udy, brother of the groom, acted as best man, and Mi- Alan Broome was the groomsman.

After the bride had signed the register she was presented with two charming horseshoes, by Noeline Phillips (a niece), and Daphne Udy (sister of the groom). Mrs Gardiner and Mrs Udy received the guests, the former wearing a Incoming gown of green lace and georgette with bat to tone and :s black velvet coatee. She carried a bouquet of spring flowers. Mrs Udy wore a navy floral crepe de chine dress, and a three-quarter coat in navy completed the ensemble. Her hat was of beige felt and she also carried a posy of spring flowers. Dancing filled the time till the bride and her attendants returned from the photographers, when congratulations were proffered by all present. Supper was then partaken of and proved to be a vert - sumptuous repast. The bride cut the three-tiered wedding cake, which she had baked herself. The usual toasts were honoured, and the best man read the numerous telegrams, from Wellington, Auckland, the South Island and various other localities. Dancing again continued and the many novelty dances caused amusement. They were won bv the following: Snowball waltz. Mrs A. Murray and Mr B. Reeve; lucky spot waltz, Miss B. Warrington and Mr Jenkins; statue waltz, Mr and Mrs Leo Udy. The novelty foxtrot was very enjoyable, as streamers, masks, squeakers and balloons gave a very festive air to the occasion. Mr and Mrs Udv_ left shortly after midnight. Mrs Udy chose tor going away a wine frock, hat and coat, grey shoes, gloves and handbag. The groom's gift to the bride was a dainty crystal necklet.
