The “Daily Mail” says that Lord Rothermere, who is visiting Honolulu, has cabled emphasising the future of British shipping. In view of the United. Stares, Germany, Italy and Japan subsidising fleets he supports the provision of a £4,000,000 Joan, which would cause no more loss to Britain than financially assisting the building of the Mauretania and Queen Mary, as ships pay interest and return capital within 20 years. The “Daily Mai 1 ,” in' a leader, recalls the unanswered appeal of the Hon. Alexander Shaw, chairman of directors of the P. and O. Company, last year, and says that there has been talk galore but nothing done. It insists that the Government must shake off its lethargy and. brush aside obstructionists.
