PAST CHAMPION ELIMINATED. There was a surprise it store lor golfers last Saturday in the course of play in the ladies championship when Mrs A. j. Morgan beat Mr, TY. P. Nelson, cue up. Airs Nelson has been lady champion for several years, and was expected to contest the final again this year Ihe game was played under most boisterous conditions, and this was if anything in Airs Alr.rgan’s favour since the latter is by far the more \ igorous hitter of the two. and would consequently be more able to cope with the particularly high wind that was blowing. Airs Nelson was actually three up at one stage and seemed as though she would go oil. hut Airs Morgan shaded her. and was one ip when they completed the final hole. The winner’s card was 1(W and Airs Nelson did a 99 —both just average scores under' ordinary conditons but good in the circumstances. AIEN'S COAIPETITIONS. (By ‘ Cleek”). P. J. Lloyd and T. Clarke tied for first place with net 72’s in last week’s medal competition. J. Richardson defeated TY H. Watson 3 and 2 in the first round of the senior championship and A. Alorgan defeated N. Judd 3 and 2 in the first round of the intermediate championship A medal competition will be playo 1 next week-end. Cards returned win count for the 9th round of the By IHe \ Cup competition.
