AUSTRALIAN FORWARD PRAISED.
A high tribute to Aubrey Hodgson, one of the forwards in the touring Australian team, was paid by J. E. Ma nchester, captain oT Canterbury end of the 1935 All Blacks, at the dinner to the Australian and Canterbury teams in Christchurch. Manchester said that he and Hodgson were friendly enemies of some years’ standing. “We knew Hodgson as g great line-out forward, and I am supposed to be one of the best in New Zealand in that part of the game,” sa»d Manchester. “It was, therefore, boots off and a fair go. 1 think L just about held my own in the first spell, but Hodgson’s display in the second halt left no doubt in my mind that he is the best line-out forward in the world.”
