LINE UMPIRE KNOCKED OUT. An unusual diversion occured during a friendly football match at Prince of Wales Park* Wellington, oil a Saturdv afternoon recently. An over-zealous lino umpire became involved in a forward rush, and w-hen the scene of play moved on he was left prone on the, turf;—knocked cut. He was speedily, restored to consciousness. FIRE ON GLASGOW WHARF. Fire broke out oil Glasgow Wharf, on a recent Saturday morning, when ail overflow of benzine was ignited by an electric spark. A tractor and the exterior of a wooden shed were damaged before the blaze was %itinguished by the harbour boadl men. The fire brigade was called out but arrived to find the lire already under control “A JORDAN’ SEAT.” “The Labour Party is trying to create the impression that Manakau is a Labour stronghold,’ said Mr. F. W. Doidge, National candidate for Manakau. at Panmure recently. “That is incorrect. For most of the fourteen years it was held by the Labour Party it had been a “Jor dan” seat, retained by the popularity of the member,” added Mr. Doidge, in paying a tribute to unremitting service rendered by the former member. FISHERMEN COMBINE. Because they believe that they can do a great deal for their mutual good by the united effort of launch fishermen of New' Plymouth have decided to form an# association. A meeting was held last Saturday and it was decided to seek the support of all fishermen to make a strong association.
