STIRLING DEFEATS HUGHES. Electric Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, Last Night. Fighting strongly and confidently, Don, Stirling scored a decisive victory on points over Archie Hughes in a 15-round contest for the welterweight boxing championship of Now Zealand on Saturday night'. The bout, which w’a.s. fast and willing, was witnessed by a good house. Stirling gave a much better showing than in his recent bout with Hughes but . the toughness and clev<*r defence work of the little Australian enabled him to make the contest full of interest. Stirling’s weight was 10.1 and Hughes’ 9.61.
