WHEN THE HOUSE MEETS. A NniitEK OF IMPORTANT M FA SPURS. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, East Night. The Government's plans for legislation to be placed betore Parliament immediately alter its resumption on Tuesday lollowing the mid-winter recess oi live weeks, are now practically complete. Although several Ministers have been absent from Wellington, Cabinet meetings have been held daily this week and there will be a further meeting to-mor-row. According to the Prime Minister, Hon. M. J. Savage, satisfactory progress has been made with the drafting of new policy measures and no delays are anticipated when the House of Representatives meets. A caucus of the Government party would be held on Monday morning, Mr Savage said, when details of the new legislation would be explained to members, who would also be given an outline of the general policy to be disclosed in the Budget. The Prime Minister repeated that the Finance Bill, providing for the restoration of all wage and salary Tuts, would be the first business to receive the attention of the House. It would probably be followed by a Bill dealing with re-adjustment of mortgages on the basis of the guaranteed price for dairy products. It was the aim of the Government to have the Budget presented as soon as possible but no definite date had yet been fixed. Other measures which would probably receive early attention were two Bills to be handled by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. D. G. Sullivan), one setting up a judicial tribunal to control and regulate commodity prices, and the other providing for the encouragevelopment of industries. The Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill, which was left uncompleted when the- House adjourned last month, would also have to Ix 3 put through its remaining stages. "There will be plenty to occupy the - • and attention of members," Mr Savage added, “and they will not he asked to concern themselves with unimportant trifles.” •
