WEST COASTERS AND MINISTER Electric Telegraph—Press Association GREY'MOUTH, Last Night. Hons. R. Semple and P. C Webb arrived to-night and are taking deputations. Mr Semple informed the Borough Council that the law disallowed the request for a grant to re-condition the highway within the town and promised the Automobile Association, that he would place a modern grader or snow plough on Arthur’s Pass before next winter, also a bridge over three creeks on that route. He promised to obtain a report on a Westlaud request to complete the coastal read between Hokitika and Ros 3, also oil the Arahura valley river erosion, also the Grey river erosion at Coal Creek flat near Greymouth. Mr Semple said the request to tarseal the highway to Koiterangi in Westland was ’a matter for the board. A Westland deputation also asked for an extension of the Ross railway southwards. The Minister said a report thereon had been prepared and would be considered. Ac Runanga to-night Mr Webb, in response to borough requests, agri*ed. to obtain particulars of housing facilities on State land. The council also asked for a grant towards bringing in a water supply and Mr Webb said he would obtain a report. The Ministers leave tomorrow for Christchurch, reaching Wellington on Monday.
