In tint Arbitration Court tc-day 13 lime manufacturing anil distributing companies sought an extension of the hours ci work to 44 per week for six months in each year in. the case of the manufacture of carbonate of lime or shell lime and to 44 hours per week for the whole year in the case of burnt lime. For shift workers an extension of the period of continuous work from 4k to 8 hours was sought Representatives of the employers and workers had previously discussed the issue for an hour and a-half without being able to reach a satisfactory agreement. The evidence on behalf of the employers was hoard anil the hearing was then adjourned.
