GUNS AND AMMUNITION APLENTY. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, July 16. The News-Chronicle’s special correspondent says that, with the knowledge of the British Government, .t fully-armed, highly organised Jewish army of a. reputed strength of 50.000 exists in Palestine. It is equipped with the latest pattern machine gins and Lewis guns, has ample ammunition and has its own ti ansport and Red Cross services as well as systems of signalling and wireless communication throughout Palestine.
In recent months it has been strengthened by thousands of young German Jews trained in Germany. There is a youth organisation centre Med by a secret committee and every village has a. disguised fort
munition. Experiments are being coniine ted to convert tractors into armoured ears. An off'eial of the force Hates that it is purely defensive' Jews previously had to be attacked before the police were able to act. so they decided to prepare against all contingencies.
