EWE FAIR AT APITI.
GOOD SHEEP SEED WELL. At the Apiti ewe fair on Tuesday last the Xew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. report having offered a large yarding of sheep to a good attendance of buyers. Young ewes were keenly sought <rter. ewes with good mouths sellaim well up to recent values but failing mouth and low-conditioned sheep did not meet with a ready market. A good yarding of store lambs sold well up to late rates and the bulk of the yarding was sold under the hammer. Prices were:

VALUES UP AT ADDINGTON. Electric Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. Last Night. Values in most sections at -Addington to-day were higher. Store lambs were forward in smaller numbers end better quality. The improvement in feed prospects following the rain helped the market, and values recovered to the; full drop of a shilling last week. Ik-st owes sold to 19s and !>est mixed-sex to 17s. Store sheep: The entry was heavy but generally unattractive. Ewes of all descriptions were in keen demand and sold at higher prices. Twotooth Corriedale and Romney sold to 325; sound-mouth, to 23s ; aged, to 7s. Fat lambs: A smailer entry with competition very keen among exporters and butchers. Prices were higher, th * top prict being 32s lOd. Values were: Lxtra prime, to 32s 11/d; prime. 26s to 28s 6(1; mediumweight, 23s to 25s 6d • others, 18s to 22s 6d. Fat sheep: The entry was smaller and the quality medium, with a keen demand. Prices were Is 6d higher. Values: Extra prime wethers, to 31s 7cl ; prime, 25s to 26s ffcl ; medium, 22s 6d to 24s 6(1; others, to 22s ; extra prime ewes, to 29s lOd : prime, 19s 6d to 22s 6d ; medium. 16s 3d to 18s 6(1; others, to 15s 6d. Fat cattle: The entry was a little smaller with quality better. Best beef was scarce and in good demand ;• t an advance of VI. Best beef sold at 25s 6d to 27s 6d per 1001 b; extra, 29s ; good. 23s to 255; ordinary, 18s to 21s 6d : rough, down to 15s 6d. Extra prime heavy steers, to £ll 7s 6d: prime. 69 5s to 611 : medium, 67 LOs to 69 os; others, to 67: extra prime heifers, to 69 12s 6(1; prime, 60 to 67 : others, to 65 15s ; extra prime cows, to .69 2s 6(1 ; prime, 64 10s to 66; others to 64 There were shorter entries in veal and values were fully maintained. A moderate entry of store cattle saw values lOs a head better. There was a keen demand for dairy cattle, with values higher bv .61. Pigs were in good demand, baconers averaging 4(1 to 5d and porkers o|d to a lb.
