The Government of India has recently been considering the possibilities of using tear gas for dispersing unlawrul assemblies in order to avoid as far as possible the use O', police batons and firearms. Preliminary experiments wore carried out at the Punjab Training School at Phillaur and impressed the authorities, but further tests are being arranged before a final decision is made.
