ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

CYCLIST'S GRAVE INJURIES. Electric Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N.. Last Night. A distressing accident occurred at the junction of Broadway with the Square shortly before 4.30 yesterday afternoon when a small boy 4 years of age. named Roger Calvin Bartlett, of 152 Victoria avenue. Palmerston North, came into collision with a car being driven by Rev. A. L. Haddou, of Dunedin. After the lad was knocked down, the rear wheel of the car passed over him. He was immediately taken to a doctor and later admitted to hospital . His injuries consist of a fracture of the skull and laceration of the brain. Early this morn-mg it was stated that the boy’s condition was very grave. MOTOR CYCLE AND TAXI. AUCKLAND. February 9. An Auckland University College student. Major Gordon Miles, aged 21, was killed this fcfternoon when his motor-cycle collided with a taxi at Hangitiki, seven miles north of Te Kuiti. Mr Milos was on his wav to join the Auckland Training College, and was travelling along the main road north. The taxi was driven by E. -Jackson and had seven excursionists from Waitomo to the Hangitiki railway station. The two vehicles collided at an intersection. Miles was thrown head-first against one of the doors of the taxi. The motor-cycle was wrecked and the car extensively damaged. Mr_ Miles, whose parents live at le Kuiti. had been a student at Auckland for two years and was a well-known footballer and athlete. DROWNED IN WANGANUI RTVER. WANGANUI. Last Night Apparently falling into the Wanganui river while gathering firewood near Hallswell street this evening, Roy Jack Calver, aged nine, of 78 Glasgow street, was drowned. A younger brother and another hoy were with deceased when the accident occurred but the alarm was not. given till some time later. The body has not been recovered.

FATAL FALL FROM CYCLE. AUCKLAND. Last Night. The death occurred at the Auckland Hospital of George Robert Dale Bobbington, aged 12, son of Mr E. C’. Bebbington, of Papakura. He was adnytted to the hospital on January 13 with a fractured skull and concussion. The boy wa s thrown from, his bicycle when it was struck by a motor car on the Great South road near Papakura.
