81-WEEKLY PAY DAY.
PUBLIC WORKS INNOVATION. Electric Telegraph—Press Association BLENHEIM, Last Night. An announcement that PublicWorks employees and men on work controlled by the department are to be paid fortnightly in future instead of monthly was made by the Alinister of Public Works when addressing the aerodrome workers. This will cost the Government an extra £7OOO, as additional office staff will be required. In the case of cooperative contracts, there will not be a fortnightly measure-up. This will be done monthly, but in the intervening fortnight 75 per cent, of the estimated amount due to the men will be paid out and the balance with the next fortnight’s wages. The first 75 per cent, payment is being made this week.
