SOUTHERN RAILWAY.
CABINET TO AiAKE DECISION. Electric Telegraph—Press Association BLENHEIM, Last Night. “It will bo a question for Cabinet to decide,” said the Alinister of Public Works (Hon. R. Semple) today to a AXarlborougli Progress League deputation which raised the question of the completion of the South Alain Trunk line. “1 understand Air Savage has given a promise that this line will be completed. If he has given that promise you can take it from me that Air Savage will see that his promise is fulfilled. Anything that Air Savage has promised to do will be done as soon as it is humanly possible to do it.”
The Alinister told another deputation, which asked for new courthouse provision which would make available the whole ground floor of the Government buildings for a post office, that it had a legitimate grievance. He marvelled that the town had put up with the conglomeration of buildings for so long. “It is my view that public buildings in a city should he an example, not a Cinderella,” Air Semple added. “This is not an example; it is something to be ashamed of.”
