LOCAL AND GENERAL.
“Teach nothing which you do not truly believe.” Mr A. Maylin Theed was granted leave to attend the engineer’s conference at Wellington by the Akitio County Council at their monthly meeting yesterday. Th© Audit Office has returned the balance-sheet of the Pahiatua Borough Council, duly certified and free from “tags,’ which must be a matter ob satisfaction to the Town Clerk (Mr \j. D. .Lovelock). At yesterday’s meeting of the Akitio County Council, the County ranger reported that he had impounded one cow and one horse during the month and that he had received £3 4s 6d for dog registration to date. At last .night’s meeting of the Pahiatua. Borough Council, it was reported that the Pahiatua Town Board was formed in 1886 and the Borough in 1892. The Council was undecided whether it would be correct to celebrate the golden jubilee of the Borough this year or six years hence and it was mentioned that Mr John Hughes, a member of th©- original Town Board, was still living in Main Street, Pahiatua, and should this be the jubilee year it is the intention of the Council to make some recognition of the fact in honour of the old members still surviving.
